The health and well-being of every member of our workforce are essential to the smooth and efficient functioning of our offices. While officials in the AG offices are covered under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), providing them with routine medical check-ups and emergency healthcare, our contractual workers do not have the same benefits. These workers, who earn a modest monthly wage of ₹16,000 to ₹17,000, are often unable to prioritize their health due to financial constraints. Despite their critical contributions to our offices, including maintaining security and ensuring operational continuity, their limited income leaves little room for medical expenses, leading to the neglect of routine health care.

While Anuppur has 58 per cent of its population as tribal, the tehsil selected for the donation drive, namely Pushparajgarh (Rajendragram), has over 76 per cent as its Scheduled Tribes’ population. It is one of the most backward regions of the district and the State. The condition of the children of this area is far less than satisfactory and as expected, they have very limited resources in the form of proper clothes, shoes, access to clean drinking water, schools, health care etc.

As the IAAOWA MP team, looking forward to community service, we thought the visit to Aayaam Inclusion School would be like any of our earlier endeavors. But that was not how it went on that sunny day in mid-April 2024 in the City of Lakes!!
Aayaam was started in 2020 (in light of the covid pandemic) in Bhopal, as a free-of-cost residential institution for special and other underprivileged girls which has now grown (and shifted to the outskirts of the city) to looking after more than 50 girls, besides running a school from 5th to 8th class for these girls and similar category of children (boys included) from nearby rural areas through special and general educators.

It was during the month of August- when the rain Gods make the city of lakes even more beautiful- that IAAOWA MP Chapter undertook a social welfare drive in Bhopal for some children of labourers, who were being nurtured thanks to an NGO, Pankhudiyan.
The IAAOWA members and AG Audit office staff came together in this combined initiative to contribute new/ no-longer-needed clothes, toys, books, stationery, etc. for these children who were getting informally educated in a makeshift study centre near a construction site. Not only from the IAAOWA members, but the response from our office staff also was overwhelming, as this kind of donation was never done before in the office and they were quite motivated to contribute in the noble endeavour.

On 1st Jan 2023, members of the IAAOWA ushered in the new year with an experience that is hard to describe. We gathered at the Nirbhaya Balika Grah (shelter home), located in Professors’ Colony, Bhopal, for distributing personal hygiene kits to the destitute girls living here. Little did we realize that instead of the residents, we would be the ones benefitting more after this interaction.
It all began under the guidance of IAAOWA’s patron, with a string of welfare activities undertaken at Delhi and we hoped to spread the noble initiatives at Bhopal as well. So here we were, loaded with enthusiasm and baskets of some essential items . Seeing the beaming girls- some smiling shyly, some giggling, we instantly felt overcome with the warmth they extended.
