Focusing on the dual target of taste and health a session on healthy baking was organised at iCISA. The role of mentor to all the amateur bakers in the workshop was handled by Ms. Renu Amitabh PCIT, who guided all the participants through a hands - on journey. In the session baking and tasting went side by side keeping all the bakers and foodies involved to the core. The session emphasised on utilising nutrient dense ingredients like Millet, Ragi Jowar bananas, khand and honey. The advice and small tricks shared by Ms. Renu Amitabh were a bonus. The highlight of the session was the affable manner of Ms. Renu Amitabh her ability to connect with the students and patiently demonstrate the intimidating art of baking in such an easy to follow way made the session engaging and valuable.
Conversations about our feelings and mental health can be difficult but they need to happen. The session on mental health and stress management is an effort from IAAOWA to initiate the conversation, to reinforce the importance of persevering with such difficult conversations, to encourage each other to speak up and to help and support each other. The keynote speaker was Smt. Vatsala Sivasubramanian. She has been a counsellor and therapist practising in Delhi for the past 45 years. She has been working with Sanjeevani Society for mental health for over 20 years and was its director for many years. The session was open to the members and to the lady Staff of the CAG office.
In today’s time when we all are being mindful of what we eat and are trying to reduce intake of processed food, a session in healthy baking was a step towards clean and mindful eating. We Indians have somehow managed to cling onto our legacy of fresh cooking and staying away from packaged food but at the same time we cannot ignore the fact that there has been an increase in the consumption and sales of retail bakery. We all love breads and cakes but find it intimidating to try making it these at home. This session was to familiarise us with the seemingly difficult art of baking bread. Mission was conducted by Mrs. Renu Amitabh. Mrs Amitabh is an IRS officer and is currently posted as PCIT Delhi. Expand [+]
One step is equal to 10 wells, one point 10 step wells, one son is equal to 10 pounds and one tree is equal to 10 sons. A total of 25 saplings of different trees were planted which included neem mango aloe vera drumstick bale and hibiscus of different shades.
Khadi is symbol of the Indian textile heritage. It is so deeply interwoven with our history, culture and pride. It has come to be understood as the material embodiment of the ideal that represented freedom from colonialism on the one hand and a feeling of self-reliance and economic self-sufficiency on the other hand. However, in the post-colonial society ridden with western notions of class and development the art of Khadi was lost somewhere. In recent attempts to boost the sale of traditional Khadi products one of the measures taken is to establish centre of excellence for Khadi with technical support of NIFT. It is a small effort on part of IAAOWA, to preserve this traditional heritage unique to our nation and to create awareness about it. Expand [+]
